The journey began in Mumbai in 1987 when GULAM NABI
established
a.salam (Jewellers)
a.salam is first and foremost a family business and GULAM NABI, the Chairman, can trace his family history
in the Gold and Silversmith industry back to the 19th Century.
Beginning his apprenticeship with Grandfather AHMED JOO - himself a renowned Indian jeweller - he then branched out to
form his own company, which he named
a.salam
in honour of his father.
In 1998 GULAM NABI was joined by his nephew SAMI ULLAH, now Managing Director, who began his
career in the jewellery business in Mumbai at the age of 16. Together they guided
the creative side of the business and have overseen its expansion.
Bringing together a team of some of the most highly regarded designers in India and more
than 100 skilled craftsmen in their manufacturing centre in Mumbai,
a.salam is fast becoming the jeweller of choice to a
growing international clientele, under the brand name EXOTIC GEMS
